Jessica Scales is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She received her M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pacific Lutheran University and has a special interest in supporting moms and couples during pregnancy and beyond. Pregnancy and the postpartum period can be a stressful time as a mother and her partner adjust to changes, so Jessica utilizes attachment and self-compassion to help you navigate this stage in your life.

Individual Services

Like any major change in life, pregnancy and the postpartum period can be stressful, overwhelming, and feel like an emotional roller coaster. For many of us, therapy can be a great way to help us manage these feelings or get rid of them all together. I will work with you to recognize your stressors and develop a plan to manage them, so that you are better able to enjoy your pregnancy and time with your baby. Therapy could also be beneficial if you are feeling overwhelmed and anxious about the idea of labor and becoming a mother. The work we do together could help you feel confident in your own abilities as you prepare for the arrival of your little one.

Couples Therapy

Studies show that having a baby and young children often results in low relationship satisfaction between the parents. With the stress of preparing for the arrival of a baby or caring for a young child, partners often neglect taking care of their relationship. I will work with you and your partner to develop communication skills to manage stress and continue building a strong relationship during pregnancy and in those early childhood years.
