You’ve carefully written your birth plan. Check. Scheduled all necessary appointments. Check. Prepared a room (thank you, Pinterest!) for your baby to come home to. Check. Tried on at least 10 baby carriers with your childhood Cabbage Patch Doll as a willing stand-in. Check. Stocked up on diapers and onesies and bottles (oh my!).
Preparations for this precious life you are bringing into the world typically focus on our external surroundings; the space outside of ourselves. Items and circumstances that we need to purchase, plan, create, or do. In the midst of all of this planning and doing, pause for a moment, and ask yourself, “How am I preparing the space within?”
The space within your physical body? Within your mind? The connection with yourself, and with the gentle spirit growing within you?
Yoga is an invitation for you to simply BE in this moment, taking in everything this season of life offers, and recognize the inner space within you. The benefits of a prenatal yoga practice are truly too many to count: increases physical strength, improves balance, relieves the discomforts of pregnancy, eases feelings of anxiety, connects breath with movement, allows time to bond with your baby, and on and on. Through yoga, you are able to focus your precious energy exactly where it is best spent in these moments:
creating inner space for you and your baby to thrive and grow and flourish.
In a prenatal yoga class at Source Yoga, you are welcomed into a safe space to explore yoga with special attention to your body’s changing needs during this time. Guided breathing, mindful movements, and specific poses designed to prepare and nurture your body, mind, and spirit. Gathering with other expecting moms, practicing yoga together, offers benefits far beyond the physical realm. Prenatal classes are held each Sunday afternoon and Tuesday evening, as part of our regular schedule.
Partner Prenatal Yoga, a special evening class on select dates, allows you and your partner to explore the many ways yoga can bring you closer together as you navigate pregnancy and childbirth. A wonderful addition to a birthing class, you will discover how postures, focused breathing, and hands-on techniques can create space and awareness towards each other and the arrival of your little one.
With any of our prenatal classes, yoga experience is never required or expected. Simply come as you are!
So the next time you find yourself knee-deep in preparations for your baby—
And prepare the space from within.
We hope to see you on the mat!
Source Yoga provides ongoing prenatal yoga classes on Tuesdays at 5:30pm, and on Sundays at 4pm.
