How do I get started?
Step 1 – Schedule your care with a Midwife
The midwives listed on the page linked below are the Midwives with “birthing privileges” at The Birthing Inn. Look at their bios and websites, and think about who would be the best fit for you and your family. Contact one or more of the midwives you feel you’d like to connect with, and set up a meet and greet appointment. Be sure to ask the Midwife you would like to work with whether they accept your insurance policy if you have one.
Each listed midwife books their own appointments.
Step 2 – Set your registration appointment
Once you’ve established care with your Midwife, you’ve remained low risk and you’re 36 weeks pregnant, it’s time to reserve your spot at TBI! We will EMAIL you DocuSign forms you'll need to sign. You will need your insurance policy information, your driver’s license, and a way to pay your reservation fee of $425.00. It usually takes about 30 minutes to set up your reservation. If needed, we are happy to walk you through the process, help you select your birth suite, and answer all your questions.
Why do I need to sign up separately with a Midwife and with The Birthing Inn?
The Birthing Inn is the birthing facility (the home where you will give birth), and the Midwife is your personally selected care provider. TBI does not hire Midwives, we only grant birthing privileges to carefully selected Licensed Midwives and Certified Nurse Midwives.
Think of it in the same way you think about a primary care physician and a hospital. You choose the provider you prefer for your family, and you also choose your hospital based on your needs and the facility itself. The physician has “admitting privileges” to hospitals, but the physician is not employed by or chosen for you by the hospital. In the same way, Midwives have “birthing privileges” at The Birthing Inn, but the Midwife is not employed by or chosen by The Birthing Inn.
